OOPSLA 2007
OOPSLA 2007 was held in Montreal, October 20-26. For the fourth year in a row, I received an educators scholarship to attend the conference. The total value of the scholarship this year was $2140.
I stayed in a motel near the convention center where the meeting was held. It was in Montreal's Chinatown and it had pagodas on the roof. If you click on the Montreal link above, you will see, about halfway down the page, a picture of one of the pagodas. My hotel is hidden behind the building in the foreground.
The weather during OOPSLA was excellent with rain occurring on only one day. Montreal is very charming and, in bright sunlight, truly a beautiful large city. I enjoyed my visit there very much. But, I was there for the conference. I gave a talk at the Killer Examples Workshop on a simple lab exercise that I was able to give my students just the week before my talk. The students did well with the lab and, I think, the talk went well, too. I handed out a copy of the lab and one of the groups in attendance told me that they had used the lab with their students.
