| Program Description |
This
program provides an ideal setting for total immersion in French language, life,
and culture. while earning seven UD credits. Angers--a modern city of 140,000
people (210,000 in the metropolitan area)-- is located in the beautiful Loire
Valley, the Valley of the Kings. People of the Loire will proudly tell you that
they speak the purest French. The city of Angers itself features a 12th
century cathedral, a13th century castle, famous tapestries, and
museums. It is only 1 ½ hours from Paris by fast-speed train. Students will
study in the city-center of Angers at the Université Catholique de l’Ouest.
As an integral part of their study of the culture of Northwestern France , they
will take excursions to the châteaux de la Loire and to St-Malo and
Mont St-Michel, as well as local field trips in Angers. To complete their
linguistic and cultural immersion, they will live with French host families and
take two meals a day with them.

Participants are required to register for both courses:
FRN 270-z1 or FRN 370-z1 Study Abroad—French at the intermediate or advanced
level
(3 credits taught by the faculty of the CIDEF at the Université catholique de
l’ouest.)
Prerequisite: students must have completed FRN 141 or the equivalent.
