Dr. Ulrich's Encouragement to Complete the Evaluation: Course evaluations are extremely important for assessing the quality of instruction in a course. These evaluations give feedback to the instructor, reinforcing positive aspects of the course and allowing him/her the opportunity to make modifications in future offerings of the course in light of students' perceptions. Evaluations also provide information to the Chair of the department offering the course regarding the quality of the courses that the department sponsors.
The evaluation for on-line courses has been designed specifically for the on-line environment. Click on the link below in the "Instructions for Students" to access the evaluation for this course. Read the introductory comments and follow the prompts to your course.
Remember that the instructor will not see the results of this evaluation until 30 days after the final grade has been submitted. FOR BEST RESULTS, COMPLETE THIS EVALUATION (WHILE YOUR MEMORY IS STILL FRESH) WITHIN ONE WEEK OF THE END OF THE COURSE.
| Instructions for Students University of Dayton On-line Course Evaluation Summer, 2008 The course evaluation for your on-line class will be administered on-line. Please visit http://academic.udayton.edu/elearning/evaluations/index.htm to complete the evaluation before Saturday, August 12. To ensure that only registered students assess a class and that each student assesses a given class only once, please enter your student ID number and select the course that you are evaluating. Identifying information will not be released to the instructor. The evaluation should only take a few minutes to complete. If you have problems using this Web site, please contact your instructor. He or she can tell you your student ID as it appears on the class roster. It is important that you are aware of why the University conducts these evaluations and how they will be used. One of the most important criteria used by the university in evaluating a faculty member is the quality of the faculty member's teaching. Judgments about the quality of teaching are based on ratings made by students as well as other considerations. Faculty may also use the information to improve the on-line course. Due to the importance and weight the University assigns to these ratings, and because of the influence they have on faculty members' careers, they should not be taken lightly. Instead, you should see this as a serious responsibility you have to other students, the faculty, and the University. Because of the confidential nature of these evaluations, only the department chairperson and the faculty member are permitted to see the evaluations of an individual faculty member. However, faculty members do not see these evaluations until all the final grades have been submitted. Also, the university may use a summary of the results to assess both the quality of the on-line courses being offered and the questionnaire used to evaluate on-line courses. |
