Designed for High School and College, it is a simplistic program designed as an introduction to actual programming of an original nature. Alice uses premade objects that can be manipulated in semi-complex manner to produce 3-D scenes. The underlying language is JAVA but the student does not see JAVA. Alice uses text strips to create a programmable sequence, something like a Function window in Excel.
It is not easy to learn and the student will need the textbook. The textbook does not always show the full moves necessary to create the examples and/or some methods shown are confusing.
Unless you plan to do actual programming, Alice is not recommended.
