All must have a Windows-based notebook PC
(Apple notebook computer with Boot Camp and Windows software may be used. You are to use Windows ONLY software in this course.

First-year Students Computer Requirements for this Course:
 This course requires the use of a notebook computer that complies with the hardware specifications that were communicated to you by the Admissions Office.  This course will require your use of the software applications in the Microsoft Office suite.  It is your responsibility to ensure you have a working computer with the required software installed and functional for this course.  Details regarding your technical support options have been communicated to you by UDit.  Although UDit will continue to provide software support for UD-provided software applications (such as Microsoft Office), the availability of on-campus hardware support will be limited to students purchasing from UD-partnered manufacturers.  UD is investigating options to provide hardware support for notebooks from other manufacturers; non-warranty support for all notebooks will be available for a fee.

ALL STUDENTS: REQUIRED SOFTWARE and Accessories for HSS226: Microsoft Office 2010, Expression Web 2.0, Internet Explorer 8, Google Gmail account, Google Cloud Connect for Microsoft Office, WindowsLive account, Gladinet [free version], Thunderbird Email 5.0 or newer, SPSS 18 or newer, IrfanView 3.0 or newer, Nuance PDF Reader 6.0 or newer, and a 8 G FLASH DRIVE

 

If you want help in loading your software, the Helpdesk is available with support for this class. the cost will vary depending on whether you have a PC or Apple computer and whether you purchased your computer through UD or otherwise. You may ask them to also install Google Cloud Connect for Microsoft Office and Gladinet.

1.      I recommend everyone get a mouse. It will save a lot of time and make some work easier as well.

2.      ALL STUDENTS MUST HAVE Office 2010 with Expression Web [REQUIRED] ON THEIR OWN COMPUTERS TO BE IN THIS COURSE.

2.1.1.      You do NOT have to change your operating system from Windows XP or Windows Vista to Windows 7 for this course.

2.1.2.      All students  must ensure you have a working installation of Expression Web. TRY IT BEFORE THE FIRST CLASS.

REQUIRED FOR ALL: Signup for and activate a Google Gmail account [primarily for Web Cloud Survey], a WindowsLive Cloud account, and Gladinet Cloud Manager

  1. Signup for a Gmail account. Google Apps contain the Cloud account.

  2. Install the Google Cloud Connect for Microsoft Office. Provides easy Team file sharing.

  3. Signup for WindowsLive account.

  4. Install Gladinet. [Free version]. See the Isidore Session Helps / Specific Helps for setup.

 

REQUIRED FOR ALL: INSTALL IrfanView  It is  FREE! [It is very good and getting better] It is the official Course Photo Program

ALL STUDENTS MUST HAVE IrfanView ON THEIR OWN COMPUTERS TO BE IN THIS COURSE. Install both the IrfanView and its Plugins/AddOns.
