The Department of Mathematics at the University of Dayton presents:

Fall Math Events 2009

Undergraduate Mathematics Day

in conjunction with

The 10th Annual Schraut Memorial Lecture

Saturday, November 7, 2009

Undergraduate Mathematics Day at the University of Dayton is an event to celebrate undergraduate mathematics in all forms – research, learning, teaching, history – and to provide an opportunity for undergraduate mathematicians to meet and network with more established mathematicians. We invite talks by both students and faculty.

The 10th Annual Kenneth C. Schraut Memorial Lecture will be delivered by Dr. Thomas Santner, Professor in the Department of Statistics at The Ohio State University.

A second plenary talk will be delivered by Dr. Kristin Duncan of the Department of Mathematics and Statistics at San Diego State University.

We will publish electronic, refereed Proceedings of the conference (click here for the Proceedings for Undergraduate Mathematics Day).  More details will be available later.

Organizing Committee:
Wiebke Diestelkamp, Paul Eloe, Aparna Higgins, Peter Hovey, Maher Qumsiyeh, Youssef Raffoul, Muhammad Usman

We gratefully acknowledge funding for Undergraduate Mathematics Day from the following: NSF grant DMS-0846477 through the MAA Regional Undergraduate Mathematics Conference program (http://www.maa.org/RUMC/), the College of Arts and Sciences at UD, and the UD Department of Mathematics. The Kenneth C. Schraut Memorial Lecture is generously supported by donations from our alums.  We thank the American Mathematical Society, the Mathematical Association of America, the Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics, McGraw-Hill Education, Pearson Education Science & Math and Springer for in-kind contributions.
