Sheriff Bernard "Beno" Keiter Memorial Scholarship will be awarded each year to an outstanding full-time junior and/or senior Criminal Justice Studies major selected by the University of Dayton Scholarship Committee.
The Committee will nomiate and review upperclass students based on the academic achievement, contributions to the University, the community, and the region. Recipient will exemplify the values Sheriff Keiter lived by: service, responsibility, professional attitude, and involvement in community activities. In selecting a recipient each year the Committee will give priority to residents of Montgomery County and to dependents of local law enforcement agency employees.
A plaque with the names of recipients will be displayed in the Criminal Justice Studies Office and a plaque will be presented to the recipient at the senior banquet. There will be an announcement of the recipient in the graduation program and an article will appear in the Criminal Justice Studies newsletter each year.

Requirements
- Full-time pre-service student having completed a minimum of 60 semester hours, maintaining a 3.20 total cumulative average
- Actively involved in community and regional activities as well as serving the University of Dayton and its Criminal Justice Studies Program
- Priority given to residents of Montgomery County and to dependents of local law enforcement agency employees.
