As an accredited multi-disciplinary curriculum, the University of Dayton's Criminal Justice Studies Program within the College of Arts and Sciences offers structured field practicums adhering to the Academy of Criminal Justice Sciences' Combination Model.  The program's Coordinator for Community Relations is in charge for coordinating internships, field practicums, co-ops, service learning initiatives and volunteer activities.  Criminal Justice Studies majors or minors who intend to receive academic credit under the University's Option # 2 credit/no credit grading policy are required to adhere to the program's field service  process supporting: 1) the rationale for taking an internship, 2) internship procedures, 3) the mentorship program, and 4) those standards identified in the eligibility form.

Under the University's mission of "Learn, Lead and Serve," students enrolled at the University of Dayton are encouraged through their given major, minor, student associations or service clubs to become involved in various community efforts,  and shall seek the support and/or advisement of one designated within a given curriculum or a recognized association for such activity. Anyone who undertakes a volunteer action ON THEIR OWN SHALL ASSUME RESPONSIBILITY FOR ANY RISK OR LIABILITY.  The assumption of risk for one engaging in self-initiated field service activities assumes the given individual knowingly and voluntarily recognized given dangers and risks and will indemnify and hold harmless  the Criminal Justice Studies Program, the University of Dayton, the agency involved, or any other employees, agents or servants thereof!

Criminal Justice  Studies majors and minors are asked to consult with the program's Coordinator for Community Relations when desiring to volunteer their services.  The Criminal Justice Studies Program does not condone nor support affiliations, associations, activities and/or initiatives that could jeopardize one's safety, the program's academic status with the university or its service to the  community.
