EBONY HERITAGE SINGERS

MUS 390 (1 sem. hr. credit)
Tuesdays 6:00-8:00 pm

Director: Dr. Donna Cox

Performing music from the African American sacred music tradition, the University of Dayton Ebony Heritage Singers have wowed audiences throughout the midwest. With performances characterized as "spirited" and "energetic and inspiring," the Ebony Heritage Singers is one of only a handful of midwestern college gospel choirs to be fully creditied and supported by a Department of Music. EHS has performed for several Ohio Music Educators Conferences as well as the Music Educators National Conference, Illinois Music Education Conference, and American Choral Directors Association National and Divisional Conferences. Each year, the ensemble tours the midwest. Past travels have taken them to Kansas City, St. Louis, Detroit, Pittsburgh, Chicago, Cincinnati, Columbus, Kent, and Cleveland. Members of EHS have traveled and performed with Dr. Cox in Dublin, Ireland, including the opening of the Tour de France, Ghana, West Africa, and Montego Bay, Jamaica. Singers come from various academic disciplines and ethnic backgrounds and membership is open to all without audition.
