Rationale for the policy
The University of Dayton values technology as a means of communicating information and ideas to the UD community and the world. In keeping with UD's commitment to utilizing technology in teaching and learning, this policy provides direction in the appropriate use of electronic resources on campus, specifically videos and films, by promoting the ethical, legal, and secure use of such communications. All users of UD electronic resources are expected to utilize such resources in a responsible, ethical and legal manner consistent with UD mission and policies._
Policy Statement
EdTV will rent current movie releases and other films from
our film distributor, SWANK. Swank has a library with over 9,000 titles. The
fee for each movie rented will be $202.95 per movie for 30 days of unlimited
play.
To play other educational videos on our closed circuit system, and non-film
titles available through SWANK, EdTV must obtain permission to air such videos.
Edtv reserves the right to deny a request based on content and availability.
Edtv Procedures
1. EdTV manager must obtain permission to play a faculty tape
that isn't a feature film available from SWANK.
2. Obtaining permission from a video company could take a few business days.
3. Scheduling days and times for tape to be played is decided by manager, who
will then 'TIME PLAY" or have a student employee "time play"
the tape.
4. Days and times available to "air" the tape depend on agreed upon
schedule and availability of student employees.
5. Tape will air on either channel 47, 48, or 49, depending on availability.
Faculty member will be notified via email.
6. EdTV will require faculty member to fill out request form (link to this at
home page)
7. The timing equipment is housed in LETS in the LTC (basement of the library)
and LETS cannot be held accountable for lost or stolen tape.
