We will perform replications of three classical studies in cognitive psychology.  Each of these involve your participation in the research, data analysis, and writing a paper about the study.  The following timeline gives an idea of when you need to accomplish major milestones in the research process.
 

Lab 1:   Serial Position Effect:
Fri. 2/8   Read pages 150 to 152 of the text
Read the background information about the experiment
Mon. 2/11   Participate in the experiment and submit your data to the web server no later than midnight.
Wed. 2/13   Data analysis will be talked about in class.  Start your own data analysis.
Fri. 2/15   Start writing your paper.  See the APA style page for information about content and style of the paper.
Fri. 2/22   Paper is due at the start of class.
     
Lab 2:   Mental Rotation:
Wed. 2/27   Read pages 263 to 264 of the text
Read the background information about the experiment
Fri. 2/29   Participate in the experiment and submit your data to the web server no later than 11:59 PM on Sunday, 3/2
Mon. 3/3   Data analysis will be talked about in class.  Start your own data analysis.
Wed. 3/5   Start writing your paper.  See the APA style page for information about content and style of the paper.
Wed. 3/12   Paper is due at the start of class.
     
Lab 3:   Concept Formation:
Fri. 3/14   Read pages 326 to 329 of the text
Read the background information about the experiment
Wed. 3/26   Participate in the experiment and submit your data to the web server no later than midnight.
Fri. 3/28   Data analysis will be talked about in class.  Start your own data analysis.
Mon. 3/31   Start writing your paper.  See the APA style page for information about content and style of the paper.
Mon. 4/7   Paper is due at the start of class.
