Software
To effectively use the class web site you will need the following free software:
A recent web browser such as Internet Explorer 7.0, Firefox 3.0, or Opera 9.60 is required. The class web site has been tested on both PCs and Macs. Cookies and Javascript need to be enabled for the site to function properly.
Macromedia's Flash player is required.
Adobe's Acrobat/Adobe Reader is required.
Some of the media files are up to 15 MB in size. You should listen to the lectures only on a broadband connection. If you do not have a broadband connection, there are computers on campus (e.g. in the library) that are available. You may need to bring your own headphones to hear the lectures. Most public libraries also have broadband internet connections. Even with a broadband connection, it may take several minutes to download the media files, especially at peak usage times.
If you experience problems with the class web site, please let Dr. Elvers know. He can help you determine if the problem is with your computer / internet connection or with the web server or class web site. The help desk can also assist you.
