Best
Paper Awards
The
History Department of the University of Dayton is pleased to announce the
competition for two awards:
¨The
Dr. George Ruppel Award —
for the best history paper submitted by a University of Dayton undergraduate
student.
¨The
Betty Ann Perkins Award —
for the best paper submitted by a University of Dayton undergraduate student
which deals with any topic covering women’s or family history.
All
manuscripts must be submitted to the Chairperson of the History Department
before February 15, 2003.Papers
become the property of the Department of History.
Papers
must be well-written, use primary sources, demonstrate an acquaintance
with the secondary source literature on the subject, and show originality
as well as sound historical methodology.
Papers
should not exceed 25 typewritten pages in length.Style
should conform with the Turabian Manual for Writers.Three
copies of each paper must be submitted.
Students
submitting manuscripts must have taken at least six hours of history
at the University of Dayton.
Faculty
members from the History Department will judge the manuscripts.
Their decision will be announced in March.
