HIKE SCHEDULE

November-December, 2009

For April through December, 2009, Metro Dayton Hikers schedules its own hikes. All hikes start promptly at 1:30 PM unless otherwise noted, each month, on the first, third and fifth (if it exists) Sunday. The pace is BRISK: hikes may not be suitable for children or other slow walkers. Also, due to the restrictions at many of the hiking locations, members are asked not to bring pets.

DEGREE OF DIFFICULTY CODES:

“A” = EASY, NO HILLS

“B” = MODERATE, SOME HILLS

“C” = DIFFICULT, VERY HILLY IN SPOTS

“D” = RUGGED, FOR EXPERIENCED HIKERS ONLY

29 Nov 2009 – Possum Creek Metropark. 5 miles, 2 hours “A”. From Dayton, proceed south along SR-4 (Germantown Road) to Frytown Road. Turn left (east). Proceed to park entrance at 4790 Frytown Road. Meet in the Argonne Forest parking lot (PC-3).

06 Dec 2009 – Englewood Metropark. 5 miles, 2 ½ hours “C”. Use entrance at 4361 US40 (east end of dam). Meet at Patty Shelter parking lot.

20 Dec 2009 – Charleston Falls. 4 miles, 1 ½ hours “B”. Go north on SR202 (Old Troy Pike) about a mile past US 40 to Ross Road. Turn left (west) onto Ross Road and proceed about a half mile to the park entrance. Meet in the main parking lot.
