Program Description

This program provides an ideal setting for total immersion in French language, life, and culture. while earning seven UD credits.   Angers--a modern city of 140,000 people (210,000 in the metropolitan area)-- is located in the beautiful Loire Valley, the Valley of the Kings.  People of the Loire will proudly tell you that they speak the purest French.   The city of Angers itself features a 12th century cathedral, a13th century castle, famous tapestries, and museums.  It is only 1 ½ hours from Paris by fast-speed train.  Students will study in the city-center of Angers at the Université Catholique de l’Ouest.  As an integral part of their study of  the culture of Northwestern France , they will take excursions to the châteaux de la  Loire and  to St-Malo and Mont St-Michel, as well as local field trips in Angers.  To complete their linguistic and cultural immersion, they will live with French host families and take two meals a day with them.
