bullet Passing the Bar is about getting points- You can't get points if you don't write.

bullet Don't leave any question blank - You must say something on every question. If you leave a question blank that is 0 points and it CANNOT be made up on another question since each question is worth only a set amount of points

bullet Write at least 1.5 pages for every 30 minute question (even if you have to repeat yourself). Remember you are writing for the grader. If you write less than a page, the grader will be biased against your answer even before they start to read. They will look at the answer and think to them self that this person doesn't know the law. That thought will then bias how they grade. If you write at least a page, they'll start reading (and grading) before they realize that you've written only a page. But by then they've already given you some points (unbiased) and whether it is 1 point or 10 it will be more than if you had not written at least a page.

bullet Discuss all issues spotted even "near misses" and issues that you think are not "winners" BUT

bullet Do not create issues that are insubstantial
bullet Do not discuss legal theories not supported by facts.
bullet HOWEVER discuss more than the one issue you think will win -
bullet Remember this is an issue-spotting exam - you get points for issues

bullet Avoid long introductory phrases

bullet Do not repeat facts - use them in the application of rules to the facts (analysis)
