Preliminary Assignment:
  • Go Moodle
    • sign-up for the Remedies class.
      • UserName = Firstname Inital and Last Name
        • Example: Jane Doe = jdoe
      • Password=changeme
    • Update Profile on Moodle including posting a headshot/passport photo (this is essential no exceptions.).
    • Email copy of photo to me.
  • In the virtual lounge, post a posting introducing yourself. Year in school. Interest in the law. Why you are taking remedies? Legal experience, etc.
  • Complete the Survey on having read and understood the syllabus: Survey on Syllabus by August 25th.
Reading Assignment:
 
Problem Assignment:
  • Read and Complete all the assignments on moodle under Unit 1: Introduction.
  • Problem 1-1: Perales v. Fenton; Bring 2 Copies to Class; Post on Moodle no later than 11:30 am the day of the class.
Other Assignment:
  • Develop Learning Objectives
    • Using the teaching objectives for this course as a starting point, write ten specific learning objectives for yourself for this course. (This assignment is due Sept 7 before class and should be submitted through Moodle.)
    •   Your objectives should be concrete and measurable. 
      • One Objective related to each of substantive teaching areas: Damages Remedies, Equitable Remedies,  Restitution Remedies and Remedial Defenses
      • One objective related to bar exam writing
      • One objective for each of the learning domains (cognitive, affective, psychomotor)
      • One objective related to justice in the legal system with emphasis on remedies and diversity.
    • Read the following to help you write learning objectives:
    • Before writing your objectives, get an overview of the course, review the table of contents of both the assigned books, review the syllabus.
    • In a footnote, for each objective identify which substantive teaching area it is for, which learning domain it covers and whether it covers diversity and justice. Remember, an objective can meet more than one requirement.
    • Keep a copy of your learning objectives because at the end of the semester you will have to write a reflection paper which discusses how well your objectives were met.
