Undergraduate Mathematics Day at the University of Dayton is an event to celebrate undergraduate mathematics in all forms – research, learning, teaching, history – and to provide an opportunity for undergraduate mathematicians to meet and network with more established mathematicians. We invite talks by both students and faculty.
The
8th Annual
Kenneth C. Schraut Memorial Lecture will be delivered by
Dr. William Dunham,Truman
Koehler Professor of Mathematics at Muhlenberg College
and author of several books, including "Journey Through Genius: The Great
Theorems of Mathematics" and "Euler: The Master of Us All." In honor of Leonhard
Euler's 300th birthday, Dr. Dunham will present the talk "An Euler Trifecta."
We will also have the opportunity to hear an invited talk by
Dr. Colleen Hoover from St. Mary's College entitled "Garden-variety
Symmetry."
We will publish electronic, refereed Proceedings of the conference (click here for the Proceedings for Undergraduate Mathematics Day 2005). More details will be available later.
