Hi! I am a senior Music Therapy major here at the University of Dayton. I am a 1997 graduate of Fairmont High School in Kettering, Ohio. My primary instrument is the viola, but I also sing and play the guitar. I am in the University Orchestra under the direction of Dr. Phillip Magnuson, the University Chorale, under the direction of Dr. Robert Jones, and also spent the last three years in a string quartet, "il Quartetto di Ghetto". I am the president of the Music Therapy Club, a service club and professional organization for students involved in music therapy or who want to share the power music has. I am also the recording secretary for Sigma Alpha Iota, a professional women's music fraternity.
Outside of the Music Department, I am involved in Campus Ministry's Lighthouse Retreat. Also with Campus Ministry, last spring break, I went on a Spring Break Out to Boston (MOBO) where we did work with the AIDS Walk Boston, the Red Cross, and Community Servings, an organization that provides food for people living with HIV and AIDS. In Dayton, when I have time, I enjoy volunteering at the AIDS Foundation of Miami Valley.
This summer, I spent my time in Kerrville Texas working at the Texas Lions Camp. Six weeks of the camp were for children with physical disabilities and two weeks were for children with diabetes. I was the Music Activity leader, so I got to be active in making many musical experiences.
Now getting back into the groove of school, I wish you all a great year filled with much laughter, happiness and peace!
