Hi, and welcome to my home page! I am a flute lover and a first year music education major at the University of Dayton.
At the University of Dayton, the flute consumes much of my day. I study flute with Prof. Diane Gilley, and I play in the university's Symphonic Wind Ensemble and in two flute ensembles. I am a member of the Ohio Collegiate Music Education Association. I am also involved in Campus Ministry Music, offering my talent to God by playing at mass.
Back home on Long Island, I was very involved. At Holy Trinity High School I sat first seat in the band, played in all the pit orchestras for our school musicals, did a great deal in the theater (on the technical side of things), sang in one of the choirs, participated in two math leagues, and was able to graduate fourth in my class. Outside of the school building, I gave private flute lessons to several students, played in several other bands and at weekly mass, held various jobs, and was an active member of the Girl Scouts. During junior year I achieved the Scouts' highest honor, the Gold Award, which is equivalent to the Eagle Award for Boy Scouts. For the last three summers I received full flute scholarships to attend the eight week summer sessions at the Usdan Center for the Creative and Performing Arts, and I had the privledge of sitting first chair in both the band and orchestra for two years.
My love for music and my desire to share it with others is part of the reason I would like to become a music educator. I love to play, and I want others to have the opportunity to express themselves through the art form as well.
