A mezzo-soprano from Coldwater, OH, Tanya has remained active throughout her four years at UD, participating in vocal groups such as the University Chorale, the Opera Workshop, where she premiered the role of Tussy in a new opera written by Dr. Phillip Magnuson, and the Ebony Heritage Singers, a personal favorite of hers. She has also played bassoon for La Quintette de la Chambre and the Symphonic Wind Ensemble.
She is currentlythe president for the Music Therapy Club, a campus ministry organization which allows members to learn more about music therapy and to serve the Dayton community. She is also a member of Sigma Alpha Iota and leads the 9:00pm mass choir.
She studies voice with Alice Hotopp and is preparing for her senior recital March 7, 1997 at 8:00pm. It will feature a variety of musical styles from arias to spirituals to pop and even a little country.
At home, she has kept herself busy by singing in a band and spending a year as "Miss Lake Festival", a local pageant within the Miss America Scholarship Program. She is presently looking for a music therapy internship in a medical setting and eventually hopes to start a private practice of her own.
