Anita Rollo is a Senior vocal performance major at the University of Dayton, studying under Mrs. Alice Hotopp. She is originally from Saint Louis, Missouri, and attended Villa Duchesne Sacred Heart School, where she gained a background and love for music and stage performance.
For the past two summers, Anita had the opportunity to attend the Seagle Colony for Singers at Schroon Lake, New York. There she performed the roles of "Zerlina" in Mozart's Don Giovanni and Kim in Bye Bye, Birdie. She plans to return this coming summer.
At the University of Dayton, Anita is involved in many ensembles, including the University Chorale, the Ebony Heritage Singers, and the Campus Ministry Mass Choir. She is also actively involved in the Opera Workshop, where she premiered the role of "Yodoro" in It Pays to Advertise, an opera written by Dr. Phillip Magnuson. Most recently, she was seen as Miss Silverspiel in Mozart's The Impressario.
Anita is currently preparing for her first appearance with the Dayton Philharmonic. She will be singing the role of the First Witch in Purcell's Dido and Aeneas (performed concert style) on March 13, 1998 at Memorial Hall. Although she is graduating in May, Anita plans to continue her study of music at the graduate level and pursue a career in opera.
