Jim Couture, MT-BC (U.D. 1981, cum laude in Music Therapy) went on to work at St. John's Residence and School for Boys in New York City, and then part time at Grandview Hospital in Dayton before taking a position as the first Music Therapist at Springfield Hospital Center in Sykesville, Maryland in 1983. He has served on several committees including a recent four year term on the SHC Ethics Committee and has been a Clinical Training Director with the American Music Therapy Association since establishing the International program in 1988. Jim has given several Music Therapy presentations at the facility, local, regional, national, and international levels for the AMTA, AAMT, Maryland O.T. Association, Maryland Aging Network, and general hospitals.
