Mr.Ernest Flamm currently serves as a consultant to school districts and other educational institutions and related businesses on both arts and general education issues. He recently retired from the Dayton Public Schools after a 33 year career in the district.
After completing undergraduate studies at the University of Dayton, Mr. Flamm joined the music teaching staff of the Dayton schools, then served central office roles including Supervisor of Music and Associate Director of Curriculum and Instruction. In his most recent position with the district his responsibilities included school improvement initiatives, grant writing, curriculum development, staff training in support of the instructional process and supervision of 150 teachers in the arts in 50 schools, K-12.
He is involved with the Boards of Trustees and committees of many community arts and cultural organizations. In additional to work as a consultant, Mr. Flamm is the director of two choirs at a community ethnic heritage organization. His main performing instruments are piano and organ, and he spent several decades serving local churches as organist and choir director.
Mr. Flamm received a Bachelor of Science in Music Education degree from the University of Dayton in 1964, and a Master of Arts in Supervision and Curriculum degree from Wright State University in 1969.
The University of Dayton's Department of Music recently presented to him the Amici Musicae award for outstanding service to the music profession.
