Since graduating from UD, Madelon has taught music in Dayton schools, 1971-1973 and in Trotwood Public School, 1973-1978. After "retiring" from teaching she taught private voice and piano and became very active in the Opera Funatics opera company. In that group, she has had the opportunity to perform entire operas with orchestra. Her favorite roles have been the Countess in Mozart's Marriage of Figaro, Fiordiligi in Mozart's Cosi fan Tutti and Patience in Gilbert and Sullivan's Patience. She also has been the soloist in Dayton Opera Guild's "Operation Opera" in the elementary schools, where she has sung the roles of Rosina in Barber of Seville, Liu in Turandot, Carmen in Carmen and Norina in Don Pasquale. Another venture in opera was with the Ohio Lyric theatre in the role of Madeline/Isabelle in Mollicone's Face on the Barroom Floor.
A highlight for Madelon was performing the role of Alyssa with Erie Mills as Lucia in the aria "Regnava nel silencio" when she appeared with the Dayton Philharmonic Orchestra under the baton of Charles Wendelken-Wilson.
In the last nine years, Madelon has been music director at St. Anthony Church, and in the last 2 and 1/2 years she has had the distict pleasure of returning to UD as an adjuct faculty member, teaching voice and voice pedagogy.
Madelon is married to Bill Kinzig (UD '71), a mechanical engineer at WPAFB and has three children, Chris (b.'78), Andrea (b.'79) and Katie (b.'82). Chris is a student at UD majoring in computer science, so the legacy at UD continues.
