After graduating from UD in 1988 and completing her internship for Music Therapy, Michelle (Pritts) Zinck married Dan Zinck (ELE '87) and moved to Maryland in 1989. The mother of one (Hannah, age two), Michelle is currently the director/administrator of a day program for adults with severe/ profound disabilities run by Providence Center, Inc. In her role as Program Director, she is responsible for approximately 70 program participants and 28 staff. In addition, she is the Chair of the Assistive Technology Resource Team (developed from a project undertaken with Johns Hopkins University).
Michelle feels that her time at UD prepared her well for the "real world." She feels that the combination of classwork and practical experience helped her enter the human services field with realistic expectations and goals. "The kinds of therapeutic interventions that we work for take creativity to develop and courage to implement." She enjoys the challenge of promoting staff skills and competencies to meet the changing needs of the program participants. "There is never a dull moment, and no two days are the same." In addition to her work for Providence Center, Michelle is also involved in church music ministry and clown ministry. Her most recent venture has been leaming to play the hammer dulcimer that her husband made for her.
