WHAT IS THE CHURCH MUSIC CERTIFICATE PROGRAM?
The Certificate in Church Music Program at U.D. provides a person with the basic skills and knowledge to function effectively in music ministry in Christian churches. Basic musical skills are combined with an introduction to the theology of worship, as well as with an overview of both the history and the current repertoire of sacred music. Certification may be earned by undergraduate students in conjuction with their baccalaureate degree program (a chart comparing Certificate courses with those required in various baccalaureate programs is available from the Program Coordinator or from the Music Office), or it may be pursued by adult learners considering or already involved in music ministry--such students might want to take these courses on a "continuing education" basis, or they might want to transfer credits already earned at other institutions.
