Ohio Collegiate Music Education Association

OCMEA is an organization for aspiring young music educators sponsored and organized by the Ohio Music Education Association. Meetings often include guest lectures by successful young professional music educators. Besides such input and discussion, OCMEA students have opportunities for professional growth through attendance at state, regional and national meetings of the Music Educators National Conference.

OCMEA at U.D. provides music education students with many various opportunities to explore, discuss, and learn about the field of music education by sharing the knowledge and experiences of professionals and fellow students. MENC awarded a Certificate of Recognition to our chapter for Outstanding Chapter Growth in the 1995-96 and 1996-97 academic years; in 1998 we were awarded a Certificate of Congratulations for enrolling 100% of the music education majors at UD. Barbra Lupp was elected as the state-wide student editor for 1997-98 for Triad, the bi-monthly official publication of OMEA, and for the 1998-99 academic year, Barbara Lupp was state president of OCMEA. Another UD student, Dan Katona was the secretary of the state-wide organization for 1998-99.

Two UD music education students will hold state-wide office in 2000-2001: junior Maureen Mahoney will serve as president-elect, and junior Angela Anderson will serve as editor.

Officers for 2000-2001 are:
