MUSIC THERAPY CLUB

Some members at the March 2000 Therapy Club retreat

Founded in 1976, the UD chapter of the American Music Therapy Association, UD's Music Therapy Club wishes to provide students with a better understanding of music as therapy through volunteer experiences. We work with organizations such as Hospice of Dayton, Building Bridges, Miami Valley Hospital, and CHEERS. Through these experiences, we hope to raise awareness of music therapy as a profession and to provide joy both for our members and for those we visit. The club sponsors an annual retreat for music therapy students. It is open to all UD students -- it isn't just for music majors!

The club is recognized and supported as a Campus Ministry Central Service Club. In 1994 it received a University Advancement Award of Excellence for Contribution of Service to the Community.

Prof. Susan Gardstrom is the faculty advisor.
