Hi! My name is Katie and I'm a Music Therapy major here at UD. My main instrument is flute, which I have played for 9 years. Currently, I study with Prof. Diane Gilley. Before studying with Prof. Gilley, I studied with Sally Dawson for 6 years. Currently, I am invloved in a number of ensembles, including Choral Union, Ebony Heritage Singers, and Concert Band. .
Originally, I am from Cleveland, OH, where I have lived all my life. Before coming to UD, I attended Regina High School where I was very involved. Some of the clubs I was involved in during my time there were SADD, National Honor Society (Treasurer-Senior Year), Chorale (Vice-President-Senior Year), Show Choir (Representative-Junior Year), Ambassador Club, Environmental Ckub, Harmony Club, and Drama Club. I also ran Cross-Country and Track and I was a cheerleader. While in high school, I participated in the OMEA Contest where I received a rating of II (the second highest) on the Mozart Concerto in G Major. Finally, I was inducted into Who's Who Among American High School Students two years in a row.
Besides being involved in my high school, I was also very involved outside. I was very active in my church. I played in the Handbell Choir for 6 years and in the Folk Choir for 4 years, and I am a Eucharistic Minister. I have also been involved in Community Theater for 12 years. Some of the shows I have been in are Fiddler on the Roof (Bielke and Shandel), Cinderella (Joy, a stepsister), Once Upon a Mattress, Oliver, The Music Man, Wizard of Oz, Babes in Toyland, The Hobbit, Carnival, and many others.
