Music and All That Glitters

Hello and welcome to my music page.  I'm Lisa Bankes for all of those who do not know my full name, and currently a freshman at the University of Dayton.  I absolutely love the University of Dayton (and no I am not paid to say that!).  Since I have become a music therapy major I have been able to see just how much music is really a part of my life.  I don't know what I would do without it!  I tend to be a bit on the perky side, but I haven't found too many downfalls of that nature so I'm sticking to it.

I come from a small town in Ohio called Springboro.  I have lived their my whole life, and loved it.  I graduated in 2001 with a class of 197.  I easily knew just about everyone in my grade, since I had grown up with most of them since preschool.  I took part in all four of the annual Fall Plays, and I was in all four of the Spring Musicals.  My largest role was the Narrorator for Joseph and the Technicolor Dream Coat.  I also was an active leader in S.A.D.D, treasurer for the Thespian Society, and Senior leader for the Jazz choir.

My other hobbies would include dancing, writing, and swimming.  I tend to lead a very busy life, and even more so now that I am a music major.  I tend to keep things to a schedule, but every now and then I'll switch it up just to add some spice to my life.  Photography is another thing I do on the side for fun, it's always a good way to relax or calm my nerves.

So what made me choose Music Therapy?  Well since music has been my first love since I was born I have always known that I would have to do something with it.  As for the Music Therapy part I also knew that I wanted to work with people and to help them.  I want to be able to make a difference, no matter how small that may be.

"Without music, life would be a mistake." (Friedrich Wilhelm Nietzsche, 1844-1900)

"Have you ever noticed? Anybody going slower than you is an idiot, and anyone going faster than you is a maniac."
George Carlin.

"The concert is a polite form of self induced torture."
Henry Miller.
