Suzanne Knollman started playing flute in seventh grade under the direction of Larry Krauser at Our Lady of Mr. Carmel grade school.  In seventh and eighth, she played with the OLMC Raider Band and performed at the Catholic Youth Organization Contest where she earned medals as Outstanding Performer in both the Beginning and Intermediate Division.

After entering Carmel High School, music quickly became a major part of Suzanne's life.  she has been the student of flute teacher Alice Akins since 1998.  In the CHS Performing Arts Department, Suzanne has participated in Concert Band, Symphonic Band, and Honors Wind Symphony under the direction of teachers and conductors Richard Saucedo, Michael Pote, Christopher Kreke, and Andrew Cook.  She also participated in Philharmonic Orchestra under the direction of Thomas Dick, and the Symphony Orchestra under conductor Andrew King.  For the past three years, Suzanne has participated in the Marching Band, and has sung in the choirs at Carmel High School and taken piano for the past two years.

Suzanne has also played in the New World Youth Symphony Orchestra under the direction of founder Susan Kitterman, Indiana All-State Orchestra, and Indiana All-State Band, and participated in the Indiana State School Music Association District and State Contests.

Believing that music is a gift to share, Suzanne also plays with the youth choir at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Parish and on occasion with the Children's Choir and Adult choir.  She is also featured on the CD "Father.hvn: The Ultimate Connection" (one of three CDs produced by the youth ensemble at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel) and on the CD "Be:  A vocal collection by Father Richard Doerr and Friends."

Inspired by her brother Patrick, her love of music, and children with special needs, Suzanne is a Music Therapy major at the University of Dayton.  At UD, Suzanne is studying flute under Ms. Diane Gilley.  She is also a member of the Flyer Flute Force directed by Diane Gilley and Symphonic Wind Ensemble under Dr. Patrick Reynolds. At the University of Dayton, Suzanne is a member of the Music Therapy Club,  plays at the 10:00am Sunday Mass, and is involved with various activities through Campus Ministry.

Suzanne's goal is to one day work as a music therapist in early intervention classrooms, working to develop the speech skills of children with special needs through music.
