In Memory of Rev. Edward Rhodes

Rev. Edward Rhodes, SM
1910- 2007

Please pray for the repose of the soul of Fr. Edmund Rhodes, SM who died in the service of the Blessed Virgin Mary on November 3, 2007, in Dayton, Ohio, in the 98th year of his age and the 79th year of his religious profession. Fr. Rhodes taught at the University of Dayton for 36 years. He was a professor in the Philosophy Department and served a term as Chair of the department. He also taught courses in the Language, History and Religious Studies departments. He retired from the University in 1979 but remained on campus until 1983. For the next seven years he served in pastoral ministry roles in Tempe, AZ, Cleveland, OH and Hollywood, FL. Fr. Edmund retired from active ministry in 1990 and spent a year with the Marianist community in Hollywood, Fla., before entering the retirement community at the Franciscan at St. Leonard healthcare center in Centerville, Ohio. In 2003, Fr. Edmund moved to the Mercy Siena healthcare center in Dayton. Funeral services for Fr. Rhodes will be on Saturday, November 10, 2007 at 10:30 AM in the Immaculate Conception Chapel at the University of Dayton. Viewing will take place an hour before the mass. Burial will follow the funeral at the Queen of Heaven Cemetery, Mount St. John in Beavercreek, Ohio.
