Dayton - Art & Culture

Dayton is home to a stunning assortment of art and cultural opportunities including:

  • Cityfolk
     
    CITYFOLK presents the finest in performing arts, showcasing a wide range of artists and reflecting the rich, cultural diversity of the Dayton community. Presentations include the four-concert Celtic Series, Jazz Showcases, and much more.
     
  • Dayton Art Institute
     
    The Dayton Art Institute is housed in one of Dayton’s best-known landmarks, a 1919 Italian Renaissance-inspired building overlooking downtown. The Dayton Art Institute is a regular host to world-renowned traveling exhibitions, as well as its stellar permanent collection. It’s a new adventure each time you visit.
     
  • Dayton Ballet
     
    Dayton Ballet presents over 40 productions each year and has become widely known for presenting American dance classics and for premiering new works by emerging American choreographers.
     
  • Dayton Contemporary Dance Company 
     
    DCDC is the oldest modern dance company in the state of Ohio, and one of the largest companies of its kind between Chicago and New York City. Founded in 1968, DCDC has earned an international reputation for its artistic endeavors.
     
  • Dayton Opera 
     
    For over 40 years, Dayton Opera Association productions have mirrored the full spectrum of human experience. With each production, Dayton Opera strives to assemble the finest artistic personnel and highest quality of voices from the esteemed U.S. and international opera houses.
  • Human Race Theatre Company 
     
    As their name suggests, the Human Race Theatre Company presents universal themes that explore the human condition and startle us all into a renewed awareness of ourselves.

  • Rhythm in Shoes
     
    Drawing on traditional forms of American music and dance -- swing tunes and tap, hoedowns and clogging -- Rhythm in Shoes presents innovative work that is, at once, original and recognizable.
     
  • Schuster Performing Arts Center
     
    A world-class facility for performing artists. The Benjamin and Marian Schuster Performing Arts Center opened with great fanfare in early 2003. The complex includes a 2,300-seat performance hall, a rehearsal hall/black box theatre, and a block-long Wintergarden with a six-story glass atrium.
     
  • Victoria Theatre Association

    In addition to a Broadway Series that presents musical theatre and plays, Victoria Theatre Association offers Theatre for the Young at Heart Series for families with children ages four through twelve; Hot Times, Cool Films, a summer film series; the Victoria Children's Theatre Festival; and Discovery, enriched classroom experiences for students and teachers.
