Provost and Vice President for Educational Affairs
The University of Dayton invites inquiries, nominations and applications for the
position of Provost and Vice President for Educational Affairs. The University
of Dayton is a national Catholic research university, a diverse community
committed, in the Marianist tradition, to educating the whole person and to
linking learning and scholarship with leadership and service. The new Provost
will lead a vibrant and diverse community, recently recognized by the
Chronicle of Higher Education as one of the “Great Colleges to Work For.”
Another recent Chronicle of Higher Education article characterizes the
changing nature of the University as - “Once-Quiet U. of Dayton Pushes a Bold
Brand.” The University enrolls nearly 11,000 students from 50 states and 60 countries who are taught by over 450 full-time faculty. UD continues to meet or exceed its enrollment goals while maintaining its strong commitment to academic excellence and diversity. Bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral degrees are offered through the College of Arts and Sciences, the School of Business Administration, the School of Education and Allied Professions, the School of Engineering, and the School of Law. Research volume has grown 65 percent in the past five years, reaching $84 million in sponsored research in 2007. The Provost will provide academic leadership for the achievement of the University’s five strategic goals, as adopted by the Board of Trustees, to: educate for transformation and prepare a new generation of servant-leaders; cultivate outstanding scholarship, research and artistic creation; strengthen and promote the University’s distinctive Catholic and Marianist identity; advance international and intercultural citizenship and engagement; and practice responsible stewardship.
