Lieutenant Colonel
Charles (Chuck) G. Schretzman assumed the duties as the
Professor of Military Science on 2 July 2007. His previous
assignment was to the Canadian Expeditionary Forces Command (CEFCOM)
in Ottawa, Ontario. During his assignment at CEFCOM, Chuck
deployed three times to Afghanistan and developed the whole of
government assessment for Canada’s deployment to Kandahar,
Afghanistan.
LTC Schretzman
graduated from the United States Military Academy in 1989 with a
Bachelor's of Science Degree in Foreign Area Studies (East
Asian). He was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the U.S.
Army and branched in the Infantry. Upon completing the Infantry
Officer Basic at FT Benning, Georgia Chuck was assigned to
Germany.
His early
assignments were with the 8th Infantry Division and the 1st
Armored Division in Baumholder, Germany as a platoon leader,
Company executive officer, and Battalion adjutant and logistics
officer. Upon completion of his tour in Germany, Chuck attended
the Infantry Advanced Course in FT Benning, Georgia.
In 1994, Chuck
was assigned to the 25th Infantry Division, Tropic Lightning and
additionally assigned to 3rd Brigade as the Brigade Adjutant.
While serving as the Brigade Adjutant, Chuck deployed to Haiti
in January 1995 in support of Operation Uphold Democracy.
Continuing his tour in Hawaii, Chuck served as a Rifle Company
Commander of Charlie Company, 2nd Battalion, 5th Infantry
Regiment.
In June 1997,
LTC Schretzman was appointed to the United States Military
Academy as an Assistant Athletic Director.
From June 2000
to 2001, Chuck attended Command and General Staff College (CGSC)
in FT Leavenworth, Kansas.
Upon completion
of CGSC, Chuck was assigned to the 75th Ranger Regiment at FT
Benning, Georgia as the Regimental Adjutant. While serving in
the 75th Ranger Regiment, Chuck deployed to Afghanistan in
October 2001 in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. In
March 2003, Chuck deployed to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi
Freedom.
In June 2003,
LTC Schretzman was assigned to the 10th Mountain Division
(Light) at FT Drum, NY. He was immediately assigned to 1st
Battalion, 32nd Infantry Regiment as the Battalion Executive
Officer. After two months at FT Drum, Chuck deployed to Iraq
for a 13-month deployment and was attached to the 82nd Airborne
Division and the 1st Marine Division. After redeployment he
served his final 8 months as the Battalion Operations Officer.
His awards
include the Bronze Star with Oak Leaf Cluster, the Meritorious
Service Medal with 3 oak leaf clusters and the Army Commendation
Medal w/ “V” and two oak leaf clusters, the Joint Meritorious
Unit Award, the Humanitarian Service Medal, and both the Global
War on Terrorism Expeditionary and Service Medal.
He holds the
Combat Infantryman’s Badge, Ranger Tab, the Parachutist Badge,
Air Assault Badge and Expert Infantryman’s Badge.
Chuck has a
Master’s Degree in Business Administration from Long Island
University.
Chuck is
married to the former Stacy Pahl from Minneapolis MN, and they
have 3 children: Zack(16), Olivia (15) and Chloe (7).
