TERM: Normally
three years.
PURPOSE: The
Committee’s responsibilities include the development and recommendation of
principles, policies, and procedures to guide the University’s faculty
development programs. Programs can
focus on pedagogical, programmatic, curricular, and scholarship, or campus life
issues…anything that would foster faculty growth, professional development, and
quality of work life. The Committee develops and helps to deliver the Faculty
Exchange Series, and oversees such programs as New Faculty Orientation,
selections for teaching in the Studio in the LTC, part-time faculty workshops,
and other campus-wide faculty development initiatives. The Committee acts as an interdisciplinary
advocacy group for faculty professional development.
MEETINGS: At the call
of the chairperson.
MEMBERSHIP COMPOSITION: Distinguished
faculty from the academic units. The
Associate Provost is an ex officio member and serves as chairperson. Other
members of the campus community may be asked to be involved in various projects
of the Committee.
