PURPOSE: Ad hoc committee
to oversee the University’s Special Admits strategy for admitting and serving
students whose academic profiles
shows them to be “at risk” college students. Each division is to develop a profile of
“special admit” students for Enrollment
Management to use in screening applications. Divisions also set parameters each year in
terms of the number of special admits to enroll in the entering
class of
first-year students. Divisions prepare
and implement plans to serve these students and track their
progress to measure the success of the
programs. The overall goal of the
Special Admits Program is to graduate “special admit”
students at the same level as undergraduates
admitted to the University without qualification.
MEETINGS: At the call
of the chairperson. Usually 2-3 times
per semester during the academic year.
MEMBERSHIP COMPOSITION: Associate Deans or representatives from each
undergraduate academic division.
Representatives from Student
Development and Office of Learning Support who
oversee support programs for special admit students. Representatives from
Enrollment Management. Assistant Director of Athletics for Academic
Services. The Associate Provost for
Learning, Learning
Environments
and Pedagogy serves as chairperson.
