TERM:          Normally 3 years.  Student terms are for one year.

 

PURPOSE: This council concerns itself with University-wide policy on graduate work.  Appointment letters are signed by the President; it is advisory to the Vice President for Graduate Studies & Research and Dean of the Graduate School.  The Council formulates and recommends policies, plans, and administrative action on matters pertaining to research.  It provides a forum where problems relating to the research function can be directed by members of the University community for study and resolution.  Assist faculty who were successful in the Research Council award Competition in obtaining grants from outside sources, and to assist those who were unsuccessful in pursuit of a current grant to be successful in the future.

                    

MEETINGS: At the call of the chairperson.

 

MEMBERSHIP COMPOSITION: Chair (Associate Vice President for Graduate Studies & Research) and members are appointed from the faculty of the College of Arts and Sciences; the Schools of Business Administration, Education and Allied Professions, Engineering, and Law; UDRI; and the student body.
