Academic Senate Minutes - January 5, 2001

Senators Present: Bartlett, Bartley, Conniff, Cox, DeConnick, Doyle, Dunne, Eimermacher, Erdei, Galioto, Geiger, Gerla, Gould, Hall, Hary, Ilg, Kearns, Lechleiter, Massucci, McKenna, Morman, Pedrotti, Phelps, Saliba, Sargent, Staubauch, Youngkin, Yungblut

1. Opening Prayer:  The meeting opened with a moment of silence and the Lord’s Prayer.

2. Roll Call:  Twenty-eight of thirty-seven Senators were present.

3. Approval of Minutes:  The minutes of December 1, 2000 were approved with one clarification.

4. Introduction of New Senators:  Senators and guests introduced themselves and stated what constituency they represented.

5. Election of Executive Committee of the Senate

Remaining on the ECAS from the previous year were:

Paul Morman (Dean)

John Geiger (Provost)

George Doyle (Engineering)

Harry Gerla (Law)

Nicoletta Hary (Library)

Betty Youngkin (Humanities)

During the election procedure John Geiger reviewed the operational procedures of the Senate including the responsibilities of the ECAS and each committee.

Newly elected to the ECAS were:

Sean Bartley (Business Student)

Kelli Bartlett (Graduate Student)

James Dunne (Business)

Scott Hall (Education)

John Erdei (Natural Sciences)

Steve Dandaneau (Social Sciences)

6. Election of President of the Senate:  Betty Youngkin was elected President of the Senate.

7. Election of Vice-President of the Senate:  James Dunne was elected Vice-President of the Senate.

8. Election of Secretary of the Senate:  George Doyle was elected Secretary of the Senate.

9. Break into Committees
New senators were assigned to committees, and each committee was to meet at the conclusion of the Senate meeting to discuss any remaining agenda items for the coming year.

10. The meeting was adjourned at 3:50 pm.
