A quorum was not present.
Minutes of the Oct. 20, 2006 meeting were review, but could not be formally approved without a quorum.
Further discussion of the proposal for a University Promotion and Tenure committee occurred. Some particulars of the document were clarified for senators who were not present for the previous discussion. The role of SAPAS in the review of this document was also clarified. The concerns articulated in the minutes from Oct. 20th were reviewed and discussed.
Discussion turned to the development of the Honor Code. Outlines for the Statement of Purpose (thanks to Andrew Fist) and description of the proposed Honor Board (thanks to Mark Brill) were discussed and those present endorsed the basic nature of those documents as good starting points. Andrew Fist will head up the effort to flesh out the text of the Statement of Purpose. It was agreed that discussion of the Honor Board proposal would resume at the next meeting.
Lastly, the discussion of the “Habits of Inquiry…” document
began with a brief discussion about the charge given the Senate regarding the
first portion of the document. There was some discussion as to the purpose of
the document, and whether it was intended as an internal or external document.
