Minutes of the Student Academic Policies Committee of the Academic Senate

 

March 8, 2004 / 4:30 – 5:45 / St. Mary’s Hall, Room 113A

 

PRESIDING:  Adam Kocoloski

 

SENATORS PRESENT:  Bork, Courte, Doyle, Ilg, Kocoloski, Villalobos

 

1.      Evening Class Schedule / Evening Exam Schedule:  George Doyle presented a status report on the proposal to modify the evening class and exam schedules.  Although a few minor revisions were still recommended, the committee felt confident in recommending the proposed changes.  The matter will be brought up in the Senate meeting on the 12th in preparation for a formal proposal at the April meeting.

2.      Standardization of Final Exam Switches:  SAPC is working to develop a consistent set of guidelines for students who request an exam to be moved because they have three or more final exams in one day.  The committee agreed to contact Sam Johnson and invite him to the next meeting in order to get his thoughts on the matter.

3.      Student Evaluations:  The topic of student evaluations was brought up by the committee, and the suggestion was made that some closure be brought to the situation.  It was agreed that the committee would make a formal recommendation to the ECAS regarding effective means of communicating feedback to the instructor about the course.
