The most significant problem facing people of color is the
institutional and cultural racism which results in discrimination in
access to services, goods and opportunities. Poor Blacks, Hispanics,
Native Americans and Asian have different access to services, goods
and opportunities than poor whites. Middle class Blacks,
Hispanics, Native American and Asians have different access to
services, goods and opportunities than middle-class whites. This is
racial inequality. Racial Inequality can not be corrected
using color-blind or class based remedies. Improving the
status of everyone will move everyone at the same pace. To remove
racial disparities and establish equity, programs have to
consciously be structured so that racial minorities are
improved at a faster rate. Presidential candidates should be
evaluated on how they will address racial
inequality. |
